I want to start today by congratulating you all on a great effort in sticking to the 21 days of Prayer and Fasting. It was so good to hear that people were enjoying working through the Pray First manual and that they were committing to the fasting.
I personally decided that I had to lead the way and committed to the full 21 days of prayer and fasting only drinking fluids to keep me going. This definitely was the longest fast to date for me but I feel great. So much so, I’m planning to do another fast in the New Year if not later in the year.
Whether you did one day or the full 21 days, whether you did a full fast or a Daniel or fasted in other ways, well done!! I am so proud of you all.
Sunday Morning meetings
If you’ve been with us in our morning meetings you may have noticed a shift in the atmosphere in Church lately. In the last 8-9 morning meetings, I’ve felt the presence and atmosphere grow stronger and stronger. There is a real excitement and expectation in the place. The Worship is amazing, the prophetic is growing and we are seeing people getting saved!
The speakers that we’ve had recently have all said very similar things…The church is so easy to preach to because everyone is engaged and responsive, spontaneous applause, verbal encouragement from people. It’s so great to hear this feedback. Let’s keep supporting whoever is speaking and draw the best out of them.
5pm service closed.
If you haven’t heard we’ve decided to close the 5pm service and focus on making our morning meetings great. Unfortunately we weren’t seeing the growth in the 5pm as we had hoped. The plan is to just consolidate all our resources into the morning service with the intention of going to two morning services later in the year. I want to thank all those involved in serving in our 5pm service and I know this is going to be the beginning of great things to come as we worship together in His house.
School Support Opportunity
I mentioned on Sunday that we have had contact back from Christchurch East School and I will now be working to get that underway. But since then I’ve had a request for support from Parkview School in Parklands. They are looking for people willing to spend an hour or two a week to support the kids in the school. There are a few kids who have struggled since the Earthquakes and need some type of one to one mentoring. This can be as simple as “playing board games” with them. The options are endless. All volunteers from Elim will need to be Police vetted. Please let me know if you have time to help with this great need.
Don’t forget our Elim Combined Good Friday Service is at Elim Burnside Community Church, 193 Grahams Road at 10am then back to Elim Church Christchurch City on Sunday at 10am for our Easter Sunday service.
Have a great week and I’ll see you all this Sunday.
Nu and Taua.
