Well what a weekend we had here at Elim. Firstly thank you to Tony and Linda Kendrew for putting on yet another great “Date Night”. It’s such a key part of the life here at Elim and I’m so grateful to have quality leaders as Tony and Linda running this ministry in our Church. I know there will be others with a Passion for building stronger Marriages so please fill in a Connect Card and be part of the team.
Sunday we launched our first 9am and 10:45am services. I want to thank you all for committing to attend over the next few weeks as we trial these services. Based on what I saw yesterday I am really excited and can see huge potential for growth in our Church. Having these two services gives us more opportunities to see people come to know Jesus in a powerful way. Yesterday we saw three people choose to follow Jesus whether for the first time or recommitment. How good is our God!
We also started our new series “the Kingdom of God is Like”. This topic was Jesus central theme while he was here on Earth. He preached more about the Kingdom of God than any other topic.
This week we are looking at What the Kingdom of God is like from the parables he used. I don’t know about you but I’ve always wanted to know what heaven will be like. Who will be there? What do we do when we are there? We are going to try and answer these questions based on what the word of God says.
As a bonus treat we will have amazing items from local talented musicians each week. So invite someone to come with you. We have so much room and they will be blessed.
But let me encourage you today to never lose sight of the bigness of our God. He is El Shaddai - God Almighty. He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ever hope for or imagine. The question is what are you believing for today? How big is your dream? Sometimes we limit God and His work in our lives because what we ask of Him is not big enough. I remember in my Christian History Class many years ago hearing about how John Knox prayed to God..”Give me Scotland or I die” of course the Presbyterian Movement began through John Knox and has influenced Nations around the World including Scotland.
What goals do you have today? Are they a BHAG? Big Hairy Audacious Goal?
Psalm 2:8 “Only ask, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, the earth as your possession.”
Our God is a big God, nothing is impossible for Him so keep dreaming, believing and asking.
