Well, we are well and truly into the Christmas season with so much happening around the city to remind us of the season we are in. I hope that in the midst of all the craziness you pause and remember all that the Lord has done in your life.
Christmas can mean different things to different people. To those in the retail and business sector it can be a time when the most purchases are made, when the most stock is sold and late nights and early morning starts to help those shoppers who like to leave things to the last minute.
In the education sector, its exams and graduations and trying to get everything done before the academic year ends.
For others, it's putting the final touches on the holiday you’ve been planning for months. You are pacing yourself and have just enough energy to get you over the last few weeks before the break.
But for the Christian, the follower of Christ, this season reminds us of what God gave. Salvation entered into the world. The Hope of the World. The answer to humanities emptiness and brokenness.
Luke 4:18-19 New International Version
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
When Jesus came, change came. When Jesus arrived, the promise was fulfilled. Let’s keep perspective and not let the craziness distract us from enjoying and celebrating what this time is really all about. Let’s join together this Sunday and continue the celebrations.
I’m loving our Sunday meetings. I feel like God is doing something special and we’re on the brink of something great. Keep coming with expectant hearts each Sunday and let’s see what God does.
We appreciate you all so much. Thank you for being a part of the journey with us.
Cheering you on,
Nu and Taua
It’s with a sense of sadness that I announce that after 5 years as our Children’s Pastor, Mike Scott is stepping down from his role on the team. Mike has been such a key part of our team and has been a great supporter of the direction we have been heading in. He has done an amazing job in growing our Powerzone and JTeam programmes, making it one of the best in the City. He has been a tireless worker, always willing to lend a hand in whatever was needed. We are going to miss having Mike around. Good news is you’ll still see Mike at church and maybe even involved in other areas around Church.
On behalf of the Church and Staff I would like to thank you Mike for everything you’ve done. You’ve been an real blessing and joy to have around. We’re gonna miss your quirky sense of humour around the office. We support you 100 percent in whatever God has for you in the future.
We’ll be taking some time out in our Sunday service on the 16th of December to honour Mike so make sure you are there!
We will be advertising to fill the Children’s Pastors role for 2019 and will keep you informed as to when we will be open for applications soon. Feel free to Spread the word. This will be a part-time position.
