Jeremiah 17:7 – 8
… blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
8 They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.
It does not fear when heat comes;
its leaves are always green.
It has no worries in a year of drought
and never fails to bear fruit.”
I just loved Pastor Nu’s encouraging word on Sunday from Jeremiah ch. 17. How awesome to be reminded that God is able to bring us through any and every trial!
As Christians we are not exempt from having to face challenges and trials in our lives.
We still have to endure years of drought.
We all have different things that we’re facing that are our own equivalent of the heat being turned up. A very natural fear to have at such times is that the heat will be too much for us – that we will wilt and be burnt up.
It is such a wonderful description given in Jeremiah ch. 17 – instead of being consumed by the heat of the flames, the tree planted by the water (that’s us as we trust in God!) retains its greenery and continues to produce fruit! Be encouraged today – no matter how tough things get, as you keep your eyes fixed on Jesus and trust in Him to carry you through, He will again prove Himself faithful. You will not be burnt. You will not be consumed. Why not take two minutes today to put aside everything and lift your hands to heaven; receive a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit – allow the life of heaven to once again top up your tank!
Lay hold of those words from Jeremiah 17 as your promise for what you’re going through – “Thank you Lord that you promise to carry me through every challenge. I will not fear even though heat comes. I will not be overcome by worry or anxiety even in times of drought. As I trust in You, make me like that tree – always green and fruitful no matter what’s happening.”
Have a fantastic week! See you Sunday!
