This week in preparation for Sunday’s message I was re-reading through Romans 8 and came across this wonderful passage in verse 28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to His purpose”.
It's mind blowing to know that in all things, the God of the universe “works” for our good. God is never idle; He is always at work on our behalf, working for our good. Yet I get the feeling sometimes that many of us take this for granted. We just assume He will, because He’s God. I think passages like this are there to remind us of Gods great strength through His demonstrations of humility and love for us all. He doesn’t have to, yet he does. God is willing to get involved in our lives, to get dirty alongside us and to work with us through it all.
So how do you respond in return? Do we muck in or step back? Do we say God you take over or do we say God let’s do this!
Mathew Henry once said …”We cannot without God, and he will not without us”.
Let’s give God all the praise for what he is doing for us and then let’s be determined to roll up our sleeves and get in alongside him. God and us together is a partnership designed in heaven to last an eternity.
