I just want to let you all know that Mark Palalagi who has been our Worship Director for over 3 years is taking a 12 month break from his role. Mark has had a lot of health issues in the last year and a half and after seeking advice from his Doctor and in conversation with myself has decide a decent break is needed in order to get healthy. We have appointed Emma Crosby as Worship Director over the next 12 months. Emma has great experience in worship playing in churches such as Hillsong London and Holy Trinity Brompton. And is currently studying at Jazz School here in Christchurch. You will still be seeing Mark around at church and I will be meeting with him fortnightly over this period. I wish both Mark and Emma the very best and I know God will be with them both over this next season in their lives.
Communion Sunday This weekend as we gather together we are taking a moment in our service to celebrate the significance of the communion meal. It’s a tradition that has endured for over 2000 years and is a significant part of the Christian faith. Matthew 26:26-28 New International Version (NIV) 26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” 27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins This act of remembrance binds us together, reminds us of the great cost in Christ’s sacrifice for the redemption of humanity. The ultimate price was paid on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven. Let’s join together this Sunday and celebrate all that He was done for us and thank God for the freedom we have in Christ.
