This morning I came across this passage of scripture:
1 John 4:7 “Dear friends, let us love one another for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”
I never get tired of hearing and reading passages like this. It’s important that we remind ourselves of this one truth: Gods very nature is love and when we fully know God it gives us a God perspective of what love looks like for us and for those around us. The opposite is also true: If we don’t love we haven’t fully understood who God is. So let me encourage you today to keep searching to know God so that you may grow deeper in your understanding of his atoning love for you and for others.
This Sunday we have “Breakthrough Sunday” and I’m excited to have Sue Doyle of Esther Foundation Ministries speaking at our 10am and 5pm services. Sue is a wonderful teacher and communicater of the word. Her ministries mission is “To be bold in declaring the word of God and ministering in the gifts of the Holy Spirit bringing release, liberty and encouragement according to the word in Isaiah 61.”
So this Sunday we will be releasing Sue and others to pray for you and declare a breakthrough miracle over your situation. Come this Sunday expectant for God to answer your prayers. Feel free to invite others to come to receive prayer.
And don’t forget daylight saving starts this Sunday so clocks go forward 1 hour Saturday evening
See you on Sunday, Blessings Nu and Taua
What an amazing weekend we had with Daniel Walker of Nvader. It was difficult not to be stirred and impacted in some way by what Daniel had to share. My hope is that it will move us as a church to action. To put feet to our faith and that we would begin to look at real ways we can “Live out” the gospel through what we do. I firmly believe the local church can be the most potent weapon on earth in our fight against the works of the enemy. Together we are a mighty force. Keep praying that God would open your eyes and ears, that your heart would move so much it would cause you to make some radical changes in your life.
Again I want to encourage you all to pray individually, as a family or even in your life-groups or with friends about what you could give towards the special Philippines Offering we are taking up this month. Our goal is to raise over $7000.00 to send to the Living Epistle of Jesus Community Church in Bauan, Batangas. We have re-established a great connection with Ps Edgar and Beth Martin and want to help them complete the work on their auditorium to allow them to continue doing the great work they are doing with kids from the slums, as well as families from neighbouring parts of Batangas and other communities.
Finally I just want to let you know that on the 28th of September at our 10am and 5pm services we are going to have Breakthrough Sunday. Many of us are believing God for certain miracles in our lives to do with our health, relationships, workplace, homes, finances, children, family, future…On Sunday the 28th of September we are going to take an extended time of prayer and ministry and pray with you for your miracles. Come with a real expectation for Breakthrough and don’t miss this Sunday.
Blessings and love, Nu and Taua.
We had a wonderful time at church on Sunday celebrating the role of the Father with games and prizes, a fantastic song from Oceana Olsen and a powerful message from Pastor Phil. I heard that the Power-zone programme with our Children's Pastor Mike Scott was just as amazing if not more so. Well done to Anna and her team and to Mike and his team for doing so much to make Sundays great.
This week we have one of the most amazing New Zealanders you’ll ever meet Daniel Walker of NVader speaking at our 10am and 5pm services. I have been waiting eagerly for this weekend to arrive and I know that you will be touched deeply by what Daniel has to share. Below is some information from their website.
Nvader is primarily a team of investigators who together use their combined skills and experience to conduct detailed investigations and gather compelling evidence. They are in turn supported by a team of lawyers, social workers, aftercare specialists, business people, IT consultants and cultural experts.
The Nvader team is motivated by a Christian worldview that affords value and inherent dignity to every human being no matter what their race, religion, colour or creed. They are inspired by a hunger for justice and compassion for the vulnerable and the oppressed. Finally they are compelled to use the very best of their skills, experience and expertise to courageously enter the dangerous world of sex slavery and organized crime in pursuit of freedom.
Nvader founder Daniel Walker has twenty years law enforcement experience. Daniel has spent years working on the front lines in more than a dozen countries documenting cases of human trafficking on behalf of international human rights organizations. His efforts have resulted in the rescue of many hundreds of women and children as well as the successful prosecution of many traffickers. All of the other investigators employed by Nvader have similar law enforcement training and investigative experience.
I really want to encourage you to be at one of our services this Sunday if not both. You will hear and see things that will grip your heart the way it grips the heart of God. As a church let’s join together in support of this amazing man and this amazing organisation.
Invite your friends and family whether they are church goers or not. It will truly be inspirational.
Blessings Nu and Taua
This past week I attended the Arise Conference in Wellington to listen to one of my favourite preachers of our time Ps Jentezen Franklin. It was a great time for Taua and I to receive personal input and encouragement and sure enough every message I heard applied to me personally in some way. It was as if God had been reading my mail and reminding me of the amazing truths in His word.
But even though I was there to receive I found many opportunities to be an encouragement to others. Throughout the week I had spontaneous meetings with people I knew and was able to speak Hope and Life into their situation. It reminded me of this passage:
2 Timothy 4:1-5 New International Version
1In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 3For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 5But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
We are called to be ready in season and out of season. At any moment we can be used by God to be a blessing to someone. While walking down Willis Street on the way back to our apartment, Madison and I saw a young man in his late teens begging for money or food. So we stopped into a supermarket purchased a few supplies and gave it to the young man. Then a hundred and fifty meters down the road we spotted a middle aged woman begging so stopped gave her some money. I asked Madison if this was a good thing to do to which she responded with smile and a nod.
As we go about our daily routines let's not be so focused on what we are doing that we miss the opportunities. It's Jesus job to save people it's our job to love them.
I feel absolutely privileged to be the Senior Pastor of this amazing church. Thank you so much for all your prayers and support.
We are loving what we are doing, see you on Sunday.
Blessings Nu and Taua.
