Good Morning Church,
Well it seems as if we may have passed the worst of the winter months and can now get back into outdoors living again. I’m not sure how your garden is looking but I’ve got a bit of cleaning up to do in mine. A lot of dead plants, trees., weeds that managed to stick around all winter. But in amongst the mess there’s great signs of new life with flowers and daffodils appearing. It’s great to see colour and life back in the garden. This can be a picture of our lives. We might have been feeling like life is just one big mess at the moment. Not a lot going on, just weeds and dead stuff all around you.
I want to declare a new season over your life. A season of life, a season of colour in what was barren and dead. It’s a new day!! God is doing a new thing in your heart and in your life. Let’s celebrate together and remind ourselves that he who controls the seasons also controls our lives. Those promises he gave you long ago, he has not forgotten. So speak them out like seeds planted in a garden and water that promise with faith, in time it will grow and bear fruit.
This Sunday at our 10am and 5pm services we are celebrating the amazing Father’s in our lives. With this we have great spot prizes for Dads to win, we have a fun challenge for a couple of Dads and we want to award one dad the title ‘Dad of the Year’ which comes with a great gift. So we need your help to make this a great service. Firstly we need you to invite every dad your know to church this Sunday. Bring the whole family. And secondly we need you to go online today on behalf of your family to nominate your Dad. http://www.dadoftheyear.nz/ make sure you click on Christchurch as your local Elim church.
Ultimately this Sunday we are celebrating our Father in heaven, who is a “Good, good Father”. So make sure you’re here to support and love on all the Dads we have.
God is with you today. Let his love surround you and his words fill your heart. Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday.
Believing with you.

Well it's great to be back home after spending two weeks with Taua and the girls in the Philippines. We had a fantastic time reconnecting with Ps Edgar and Beth Martin and the Church there. They are doing a fantastic job leading the church and since my last visit they have been very active in reaching out in 3 other locations with real potential for Church plants in two of them. I was very encouraged and humbled at how resourceful the church was in making the most of every little thing they had, nothing was ever wasted. I feel very confident in our partnership with the Philippines church and came away feeling good about our future involvement. I think any resources we support them with will be used to great effect by the leadership there.
On a personal level I was so proud of Taua and the girls, Jessica and Madison. They handled the whole experience so well. Coping with the dramatic temperature change, adjusting to the food, coping with the extended travel and getting over the cultural and language barriers. Our first day the girls were right into it joining in on the Saturday outreach program the church runs, then we visited a couple of family's from the church who lived in very liverish conditions. We were able to hear their stories and pray for them.
In spite of having such a good time escaping the cold, it is good to be home. I'm loving what God is doing in our church. I might be biased but I think we have the friendliest church in the city. I love seeing the joy of the Lord reflected on the faces of our people each time we gather together. I want to encourage you to not let the cold or busyness of life stop you from experiencing the joy of the Lord each Sunday and keep inviting friends along.
Thank you for covering us in prayer whilst we were over in the Philippines, we really felt it and felt God use us over and over again. This Sunday is going to be great we are starting a short 3 week series called "REVISION" looking at why we as a church exist and why your life matters so much to God.
See you this Sunday, bring friends.
