Replenish Conference 2015 was an enormous success with over 310 registered here in Christchurch and a total of over 1200 throughout the Nation. Well done to everyone involved, our amazing volunteers and our highly gifted and committed staff who have put their lives on hold to make this weekend what it was.
The speakers, Ps Sophia Barrett, Ps Liz Griffiths and Ps Rebecca Green were great and each brought powerful messages that felt very much in line with where we are at and where we are going as a church. In particular I’d love for you all to listen to Ps Sophia’s message at the 5pm service on Sunday. I thought it was a message specifically for us as Elim Church Christchurch City.
Be encouraged we are going on towards the promise that God has for us. Be a part of what God is doing and claim the promise with us.
What a great day we had yesterday. I just love everything about our Sunday meetings. It truly is a highlight of the week for me and Taua. What I am really loving about our meetings is the increasing sense of the Presence of God.
One of the keys for you to grow in this area of sensing the Presence of God is to come with an expectant heart. This means that you’re speaking to God before the meeting and saying “Speak Lord your servant is listening”. This is exactly what the young Prophet Samuel did in the Temple. He was in the Temple and he expected God to do something miraculous.
Let’s come with anticipation for God to speak and to move in some way. As we all do this it releases an atmosphere of faith over the church and remember its faith that pleases God.
The Big Ask
I don’t do this too often but I need a huge favor from each and every one of you. As you know we’ve got two amazing speakers lined up to speak this Sunday. Ps Liz Griffiths, the National leader of our movement, is speaking at our 10am service and Ps Sophia Barrett, main speaker at the Replenish Conference, is speaking at our 5pm service.
I’m calling on all the members of Elim Church-Christchurch City to do everything you can to be there this Sunday at both meetings (if possible) and to invite two people to attend. It could be friends or family members or others God puts on your heart to invite.
This Sunday is going to be amazing, it will be a service you would be proud to invite people to I guarantee it. So go for it call, text, email, facebook…lets make that our goal this week. And do whatever you can in terms of arranging your week so you can be there this weekend. You’ll be so glad you did.
Have an amazing week, see you Sunday. Blessings
I came into work this morning with the words of this song “bless the Lord o my soul” in my head. It comes from Psalm 103 a Psalm of David Bless the Lord, O My Soul
103 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name!
2 Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits,
3 who forgives all your iniquity,
who heals all your diseases,
4 who redeems your life from the pit,
who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,
5 who satisfies you with good
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.
It’s an interesting phrase when you think about it. David is speaking to his soul and saying bless the Lord. It’s a command, a directive he is making to himself. He then follows this up by reminding Himself of what God has done for him. His benefits, forgiveness, healing, his crown and the satisfaction we have in the Lord. Finally David reminds himself that it’s so his youth is renewed like the eagle. Unfortunately there is no secret formula on how to return to being a 19 years old again. But what its means is that as the eagle retains its strength and vigour so will you as you worship God. The Joy of the Lord is your strength. So as you go through this week encourage yourself in the Lord then be a blessing to someone and show them the love of God that is in you through Christ.
