I hope you’re all keeping warm and dry as we experience the cooling of the weather. Another new season is upon us and an old one has passed.
I don’t know about you but I was so encouraged by the message Lea Warwick preached to close out our “Frequency Series”. She did such a great job and you would never have guessed it was her first time preaching in our Church. You can listen to it here: https://www.elimchristchurch.org/frequency.html
This morning in our staff meeting we were blessed to have Ross Anderson share some amazing testimonies about what God has been doing in his life as he traveled through the Nations around the world.
Ross has been serving as a Traveling Minister for the last few years speaking in Africa, Philippines and other parts around the world. It was inspiring to hear the stories of how God was using him for example to see in one day 120 people get baptized in a small Ugandan community.
It was great to hear about how God provided and opened doors for him to minister in places where people were so hungry for the Word of God.
Many times we limit what God is able to do in us because we have a million excuses as to why we can’t. But when we forget the excuses and simply step out that’s when God performs some of his best miracles. Take a risk, step out and see what God can do.
Before I finish I want to thank all our amazing volunteers who serve in our serving teams. These are the guys that get here extra early on a Sunday to set up the place, get the coffee going, greet you at the door, help you find a seat, serve you in so many ways so that you can enjoy the service.
Let me just say we have the best people in the entire city in our serving teams. They are amazing. Please take time to thank them when you see them on Sundays.
finally I’m speaking this Sunday at 10am before I take the whole family over to the UK for a working holiday. I’m speaking in London and Cardiff and representing ElimNZ at the ElimUK conference and Elim Global Conference. It’s a great privilege and even better that I can do it with my family.
Have an amazing week. Be a blessing to someone this week. We’ll see you on Sunday.
You may have noticed the last few posts have been more updates on what is happening around the church. We had Ps Phil share about his move to Japan. (By the way they are doing great). Then we had a post from Glen Marsden sharing about CAP and the great stuff happening there.
It’s been brought to my attention that we needed to do an update on where things are at with Church building and a couple of other matters so I thought to use this week to give you all a quick update and keep you informed.
1. Tenancies in the building.
We now have 7 Tenants renting space around the Building.
It’s been atleast 5 years since we had this many tenants in the building. And there is still room for more. Some are on short term contracts but others are 3-5 year contracts. The Lord is providing for our needs. This is the strongest we’ve been in a long time.
2. Front of Building Upgrade.
You will have noticed that we have scaffolding up along the front of the Building. We are working on much needed updating of the front for better street appeal for our Church and our tenants. We plan to put a wooden façade in keeping with our Auditorium and current trends. We hope to have it completed by 16th of April. Leo Robinson is doing an amazing job with this.
3. Replacing Ps Phil Godsiff.
Many may be wondering who will be replacing Ps Phil as Associate Pastor. Well the answer at this point is no one. Since Conway’s arrival Ps Phil’s role had dramatically changed to give him more time to support Bronny. So Ps Phil was tasked with helping me on Sundays and looking after our amazing serving teams.
I did not feel to appoint a new Associate Pastor but felt the real need was to have someone support me administratively. So I’ve asked Anna Benny to assist me 10 hours a week as well as the 10 hours a week she is spending on our intermediate aged and Oxygen Youth.
We have a great team of Pastors and Staff and in some ways the traditional role of an Associate is now the “team”.
4. New Chair of the Eldership.
Kevin Grimwood after 6 years serving as an Elder has decided to step down. We have appreciated his wisdom, skill and integrity in leading us through some very challenging years as a Church. We thank Kevin for giving his all to the Church in his role as an Elder each and every time. We will be spending time this coming Sunday to honor Kevin and Suzanne and the family so make sure you’re there.
Also I wish to announce Paul Saunders has agreed to take over as Kevin’s replacement and Chair the Eldership, thank you to both men for your commitment to our church. With Kevin’s departure we will be looking to appoint a new Elder on to the team. This will take some time as we prayerfully seek out the right person.
We will be updating our website so you know who our Oversight team is. Watch this space!!
5. Upgrade of Powerzone space.
We still plan to make significant improvements to our Powerzone space. You would have seen a huge amount of work already completed in there from the ceiling, walls, flooring and heating. But we’ve had a bit of a delay due to other jobs taking priority. We hope to continue upgrades in the winter months as most of the work will be indoors. If you see Leo Robinson around the church building please thank him for all he is doing. Without his involvement many of what you see wouldn’t have been done.
Well I think that’s enough for now. We’ll plan to have an “All in” meeting in April to update you all on this and other matters concerning our Church. Keep an eye out for the date.
Again thank you for being a part of our Church family. Keep praying for our Church, for breakthrough, increase and blessing. And also keep praying for me and Taua and the girls.
Cheering you on,
Nu and Taua.
